About This Car

“Designed to replace the 911, but ultimately fulfilling a very different role, the Porsche 928 has always stood apart from its rear-engined brethren. With four seats, a decent amount of space for luggage and a large V8 engine nestling under the bonnet, the 928 made a far better grand tourer than the 911 ever could.   It was a genuinely ground-breaking car when it was launched in 1978 too, and after scooping the European Car of the Year award, the model’s future looked bright. Porsche spent a lot of time and money making sure that this front-engined, V8-powered coupe would blow the world away. It was an engineering masterpiece, and was such a groundbreaking effort. The final iteration of Porsche’s 928 model range, the 1993 Porsche 928 GTS was introduced in 1992 and it was among the most expensive new cars available in the US with production only lasting until 1995 when it was finally discontinued”.

The Gran Turismo Sport, abbreviated to ‘GTS’, formed the final chapter of the 928’s lengthy production window. With its forward-thinking design maturing nicely by 1992, a body-colored rear wing, flared rear fenders, a red light panel and 17″ Cup wheels being the most notable of the GTS’s stylistic amendments; of far more importance was the enlarged V8 (from 5.0 to 5.4 litres), and the additional 40-odd horsepower it brought.

Speedart Motorsports is pleased to offer this glorious final act of the 928 series with long term ownership and one of less than 150 examples imported into North America in driver quality condition.

Chassis No. 800516 was imported from France by its last custodian for fourteen years, always kept in a closed garage and maintained by a local Porsche specialist.

The car has been re-sprayed in its original color of Slate Grey Metallic still retaining the factory upholstery of Black leather and presented in good mechanical order, ready to be enjoyed or as a great candidate of a comprehensive restoration.

We invite all serious inquiries as well as encouraging a close inspection of this rear ‘youngtimer’ classic in our motorsport gallery located near the Miami Design District.
