About This Car

“The venerable ‘Duetto’ of the Sixties was treated to perhaps the most successful of this long series of revisions in 1989. The resulting car was very elegant, well balanced and adequately modern. However, it also managed to retain all the appeal of the traditional Spider. This fourth generation was given the type number 115.A1 & 115.A1A and powered by the twin-cam AR1588 engine.

An Alfa Spider represents a very affordable way to get the classic roadster experience. With an excellent, easy-to-use top; a roomy trunk; effective air-conditioning; and a comfortable cabin (assuming you can deal with the long-arms/short-legs driving position), the Spider is a truly usable vintage roadster. The vocal engine, direct gearshift, and vivid steering provide a driving experience unlike a modern car”.

Speedart Motorsports is pleased to offer for your consideration this impeccably curated, last generation Spider, available for immediate delivery.

Autobiography

Chassis number 3560 rolled off the Pininfarina assembly plant of San Giorgio Canavese in Torino on February, 1990 and it was allocated to its designated authorized dealer, Harmon Cadillac / Alfa Romeo of Dayton, OH which arrived during the following two months.

For the purists of the marque it is notable that this car was one of the last to be produced by Alfa / Lancia Industriale prior to Alfa Romeo’s full merger with Fiat S.p.A and the last rear wheel drive model before the 8C Competizione of 2007.

The Spider was delivered to its new proud owners Ted and Linda Jarvis of Dayton, Ohio on August 3rd of 1990. Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis enjoyed the Alfa sparingly, accumulating a total of approximately twenty thousand miles during a 26 year custodianship and by maintaining the car to the highest standards with all service intervals performed as dictated by the manufacturer.

The Spider was sold on August, 2016 and was subsequently purchased from RM Sotheby’s on April 7, 2018 under lot number 3041 as part of one of the most significant private car collections of South Florida.

Fast forward, on July 16, 2020 an Alfa Romeo enthusiast and brand aficionado took possession of this magnificent specimen, clocking just 2,300 miles during casual drives, storing the car in an enclosed garage and by never exposing it in inclement weather.

At its current state and at the time of sale the Spider is impeccably presented in showroom fresh condition.

The exterior enamel of Alfa Rosso, retaining its original glaze and finished over an unblemished Tan interior is arguably the most iconic combination guaranteed to please the most demanding ‘Alfista’. After a close inspection the coachwork does not show any signs of major incidents and a non-derogatory CarFax report – supplied upon request, is a further testament of the automobile’s sterling provenance.

Mechanically the car performs as it was intended with the twin-cam, Bosch L-Jetronic engine augmenting the driving experience to its fullest . The synchromesh manual gearbox is indicative to the smooth action of all components during shifting. This Spider was factory equipped with the highly desirable Campagnolo 14 inch Daytonas in lieu of the ‘telephone dial’ wheels, visually emphasizing the sporting earlier character of the motorcar. All electric systems including the air condition and Jaeger instruments function flawlessly with no apparent issues.

The interior is equally impressive with the seat bolsters free of any character, the dashboard and door cards indistinguishable from new and the flawless carpeting is complemented by a set of handsome embroidered floor mats. No perforation, fading or excessive creasing is present on the canvass top with the tonneau cover in as new condition when open top motoring is desired. The car is equipped with the Alfa OEM Radio Cassette on the dash – the electronic lock-out code card is supplied with the documentation.

The motorcar is accompanied by its owner’s manual, service booklet, radio operation manual in its original pouch with Alfa Rosso touch-up paint, radio removal tool and branded tire pressure gauge, extra set of keys, tonneau cover, full size spare wheel & tire with jack and tools and all equipment as supplied by the manufacturer.

Speedart Motorsports invites all serious inquiries and interested parties to witness up-close and personal this contemporary iteration of the iconic Duetto at our Design District motorsports gallery.
